Using Instagram to Promote Your Business

Social media marketing has been on the rise with seemingly no end in sight - have you integrated social media into your marketing campaign?

Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok - all of these platforms make it easy for companies to use their in-house marketing tools to promote sales, garner awareness, and build brand loyalty. Instagram in particular launched its own marketplace in 2019, further connecting online sales to social media.

How to Setup a Business Account in Instagram

If you’re looking to create an Instagram account for your business, then the process is simple.  Here is a quick step-by-step guide to getting started:

  1. First, sign-up or sign in with a personal Instagram account. From there, you can choose the menu in the top right corner and click Settings.
  2. Choose Account, and then click on Switch to Professional Account.
  3. From here, choose the Business profile option. You can also connect to your Facebook profile in this step.
  4. Now you’re ready to customize your profile!

Customizing and Optimizing

Adding personal and identifying information to your business account will make you seem more credible in the marketplace. Be sure to include these when you are setting up your profile:

  • Profile picture
  • Name/username
  • Bio and website link
  • How to contact
  • The category your business falls under
  • Action options (“shop now”, “get started”, etc.)

After completing these tasks, you can use your business account! Instagram offers in-house analytic options that can provide your marketing team with valuable data. From the Insights tab on your business profile, you can sort through audience statistics (locations, demographics, etc.), view content interactions, and even check on the success of your Instagram stories and reels.

If you’re looking to promote and sell your products through Instagram, then you can utilize their native advertising options. On your post, you have the option as a business profile to “promote” it as an ad. Instagram offers general photo and video ads, carousel ads, collection ads (users can sort through a catalog of items), ads on the explore page, and slideshow ads. If you connect a Facebook account, then you can modify and keep track of your ads through their Ads Manager.

It has never been easier to extend your brand’s reach over social media. With all of the data and insights readily available from Instagram and other social media giants, your company can tailor its marketing campaign into one that’s efficient and effective. Don’t wait - create an Instagram account today and start promoting!
