The Importance of Employee Engagement on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a great platform for professionals to share company information and content in a B2B setting. However, it could be difficult for you to initially garner the engagement that you’re looking for from other members. If you’re looking to reach a wider audience with your LinkedIn company posts, then look no further than your own employees.

It’s no surprise that the more engagement you receive, the more likely others will see your content and also share, comment, etc. Instead of looking for potentially expensive or lackluster ways to boost your reach, you can have your employees create an organic boost in your company’s engagement.

Where exactly do my employees come in?

There are a few ways in which you can utilize your employees' profiles and posts to gain more engagement for the company:

  1. Customize employee profiles to more readily reflect your brand.

Your new employee just joined LinkedIn. Sadly, the only identifying information that ties them to your company is their job listing in their bio. How will other LinkedIn users know that they are a potential source for more of your company’s content? It’s important to provide the brand’s visual content for your employee’s profile. Customizations such as headers or cover photos, links to your company’s contact information, and information on their employment within the Experiences section of their profile can help them better connect with your brand.

  1. Use LinkedIn Teammates.

This feature allows you to more easily share content to your company page directly from your employees. Teammates can be accessed in the My Network tab on your LinkedIn home page. From here, you can add employees to your company’s team and choose to receive notifications when they post.

  1. Create a hashtag for your company and encourage employees to post under it.

Hashtags are the perfect way to organize company content into one location. By creating a hashtag and encouraging your employees to post under it, you’re essentially curating a stream of company content that can be viewed by anyone who clicks on the tag. This way, those looking to engage with your company avoid the hassle of scrolling through your employees’ or company’s entire feed. You can find the hashtag creation option in the Admin view.

  1. Turn on the Notify Employees feature to ensure that employees know when the company has posted.

If you’re concerned that your employees aren’t going to see your posts (as they aren’t going to be on LinkedIn constantly throughout their workday), then make sure to enable the Notify Employees feature. This can be found in the upper-righthand corner when you post content and will send an alert to your staff about the post.

Your employees are just as important online as they are in the office. They don’t even need to be a member of the marketing team to participate - an employee can help boost company numbers by simply engaging with your posts. Don’t overlook this simple, effective solution - let your employees know how important they are to the company, and encourage them to participate in your online community.
